Miraculous
The usually thought-provoking Scott Alexander (Slate Star Codex, now Astral Codex Ten) and the hyperintellectual/EA to AI weirdo-adjacent substack-o-sphere at large have lately been investigating miracles, specifically, "sun miracles" where crowds of people stare at the sun and see funky things. I have but one thing to say... IT'S NOT REAL. GROW UP.
We figured out that staring at the sun is bad for you- that's why it doesn't happen any more. But 100 years ago, the village weirdo kept doing it and saw "strange visions" as the neurons in his retinas died off. That's a pretty compelling explanation for a LOT of religious phenomena. You think it's a coincidence that miracles stopped happening once photography, and especially video came around?
This is so obvious to me that it doesn't even need to be said. I know that writers be writin', but c'mon guys.
